All systems go at Ilkeston Community Hospital !
Patients from the Ilkeston area of Derbyshire no longer have to travel to Royal Derby Hospital for shoulder surgery as Ilkeston Community Hospital has taken delivery of two Merivaara Practico II Shoulder Arthroscopy Operating Tables.
Royal Derby Hospitals already use four of the original Practico tables and now provide a satellite service at the Community Hospital.
Tavistock Leads the Way
Surgeons from Derriford Hospital, Plymouth now carry out shoulder surgery at Tavistock Hospital using the Practico II Shoulder Arthroscopy operating table. Tavistock have adopted a twin table system which improves operating theatre efficiency and eliminates manual handling.
Field Operating Table
Coalition Forces have selected the Europa field operating table for use in front line medical facilities following an extensive evaluation in the UK. The tables have been supplied in special shock tested, waterproof military grade cases which also include multi-positional arm rests, lithotomy poles and a specially developed battery / mains powered heated mattress to help prevent hyporthermia.

Following the British Elbow & Shoulder Surgery 2011 Conference in Gateshead, six further Practico Shoulder Arthroscopy Operating Tables have been purchased by NHS Trusts.
In spite of the economic gloom and uncertainty, Trusts have realised that the Practico can make a positive contribution to reducing staffing levels and operating costs. Added to the fact that the Practico II is one of the lowest cost technologically advanced operating table available in the UK it really is a win win situation.
More than 70 Practico Shoulder Tables are currently in use in the UK
